Larry ten Voorde is one of the most successful drivers the Netherlands has produced in the Porsche one-make cup series. But what really sets him apart isn’t just his number of titles: it’s the path he took to get there.
His career didn’t start with big budgets or obvious opportunities. In the lead-up to his Porsche career, Larry spent a season working in car valeting just to stay close to the race team and put himself in the picture. He did whatever it took to belong. That’s what defines his mentality: no excuses, just working for your chance.
He seized that chance with both hands.
After winning the Clio Cup Benelux title in 2015, he made the switch to Porsche. There he grew into the man to beat in the Porsche Supercup, the official Formula 1 support series, winning championships in 2020, 2021, and 2024, plus multiple titles in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. He also claimed the championship in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italy. Internationally, Larry has made a name for himself.
What makes Larry exceptional is his consistent performance on the biggest stages. Winning races in Monaco, performing under pressure during F1 weekends, and competing year after year for the championship against top international drivers takes more than talent alone. It demands discipline, technical sharpness, and enormous mental resilience.
His career shows that perseverance can take you further than talent alone, and that those willing to invest in themselves can ultimately make the difference.
PlusParts has had the privilege of accompanying Larry on part of this extraordinary journey, and we are incredibly proud of him.
Larry decided to stop actively racing in the Porsche Supercup after the 2024 season. He drove his final season in 2024 and crowned it with his third title in this class, closing out his Supercup career at its peak.
After stepping back from active racing, Larry now focuses on training and mentoring young talent in motorsport. Drawing on his own experience, he knows better than anyone what it takes to reach the top.
He supports young drivers not only on the technical side, such as driving style, race insight, and setup, but also mentally. Themes like discipline, preparation, handling pressure, and building a professional network play a major role. Larry shares the lessons he learned firsthand during his years in the Porsche Supercup and Carrera Cup.
He also acts as a sparring partner for teams and drivers looking to improve their performance. His experience at the highest level of Porsche competition makes him a valuable mentor for the next generation.
With this new step, Larry remains active in motorsport. No longer as a driver on the grid, but as a mentor along the pit wall, passing on his knowledge and mindset to tomorrow’s talents. Curious? Check out his website here!
